Bonjour, Do you like everything Marie-Antoinette related as I do? Then this adorable little tea house spotted in Paris and decorated with chandeliers and gold ornate details is a must-visit place for you!
Nina's, founded in 1672, and named after Nina Diaz, who in 1778 created the recipe of a cake for Marie Antoinette, was the first French company to distill lavender essential oils and became known for their art of creating fragrances. They became the supplier for King Louis XIV and the Court of Versailles, where their fragrances were later enjoyed by Queen Marie-Antoinette herself!
The signature and bestselling tea is named after Marie Antoinette, of course. It is made of black Ceylon tea, rose petals and scented with delicious apple fragrance from "Le Potager du Roi" (King's Kitchen Garden). It is the only tea originating from this garden.
J'adore every detail about the shop and the tea. Everything is so "pretty in pink"! The wrapping already is adorable. The tea comes in a nice pink box, and all their small tea bags are each wrapped individually. But next to buying tea, you can also sit down in the shop and enjoy a piece of the original Nina Diaz' "Ninasette" cake (it's pink, too) and a can of tea. For me it became THE tea place to be.
I always wished I could have lived during the Marie-Antoinette time. But as I unfortunately can't jump back in time, I just lean back in my rocking chair and enjoy some tea dedicated to the Queen.
