LFW: PAUL COSTELLOE A/W17
"Exceptionally beautiful with an essence of understanded style" - Irish designer Paul Costelloe values cut and quality, paying utmost attention to every detail of his beautifully tailored garments, ensuring his lines look and feel luxurious. And his AW17 line is no different, thoroughly representing these values, only using the most beautiful fabrics and materials. The Paul Costelloe brand, a family owned business run through its headquarters in the heart of London is definitely one to score with heritage, and I had the pleasure of not only sitting Front Row at one of the most established British fashion designer's Autumn/Winter 17 presentation at the Waldorf Hilton during London Fashion Week this month, but meeting Paul, father of seven and personal designer for princess Diana back in the days, and his lovely family backstage after the show.
Paul Costelloe's AW17 collection, inspired by both The Games of Thrones and the Tudor period, comes in a beautiful mixture of forrest colours, burgundy and royal blues, while not lacking gold and sparkles. Next to white shirt dresses and oversize statement jackets, voluminous sleeves, Irish tweeds and chiffon were seen during the show. Leather and lace make the perfect addition to the textural mix of his collection.
Especially remarkable, his choice of latex leggings under the garments worn by the girls flouncing down the grand white staircase in EGO boots, blood red eyeshadow and scarlet nailpolish. Elegant and sophisticated, yet a modern approach with au courant elements such as cut-outs and metallic colours, adding something completely fresh to the collection.
